Cool Hisaronu

A short drive from Fethiye and you reach the charming hill resort of Hisaronu (meaning; 'Front of the Castle', and refers to a local ruin). In recent years the resort has become very popular.

Perched on the mountain plateau overlooking Oludeniz, the small resort of Hisaronu caters almost exclusively for British holidaymakers and is packed with bars, nightclubs, gift shops and restaurants. With their beautiful, rugged surrounds, both Oludeniz and Hisaronu are fast becoming realised for their potential as an outdoor activity destination: the beach at Oludeniz offers a huge variety of watersports, there is paragliding from Babadag Mountain onto the beach below, and a selection of boat trips depart regularly from Oludeniz or Fethiye for a day exploring the scenic coastline.

The numerous paths which wind their way along the hillsides offer spectacular views and sights, including the fascinating 'Greek Village', which was evacuated during the Turkish-Greek war of 1919-1923.

Carmella ,I think that you are one of the most informative posters of any forum that I have read, but to call Hisaronu charming .It is a dump ,full of drunken riff raff in the summer and desolute in the winter.

LOL!

Well, uhh, err, urmm... there is some lovely scenery around Hisaronu.

I agree.. İt did used to be charming..but from the things I've heard nowadays it's lost most of its Turkish charm, but it's become very popular with tourists. But whatever floats your boat and all that.

I used to go to hisaronu more than 20/25 years ago, when it was really just a village, it was at that time a lovely place, my parents last visited it around 5/6 years ago and said it had changed beyond all recognition and not really for the better. hope the same never happens to kus. steve.
