Jewish businessman Nesim Levi built an elevator in 1970 to ease the access between Mithatpaşa and Halilrifatpaşa streets, which happens to be a great problem due to height difference between these two streets. 155 steps had to be climbed to reach Halilrifatpaşa Street, which is 50m high. The two quarters are united with the elevator tower.

There are two elevators in the tower. One of them had been working with vapour whereas the other had been working with electricity. After the restoration in 1985, both of them were arranged to work with electricity. With the second restoration in 1994, the street was redesigned. Ceneviz Bar on the terrace fascinates guests with it's exquisite food and unique view.

We visited it today and the view was spectacular. If you're looking for a romantic venue for dinner, or just a place to enjoy the sunset with a drink...this is definitely the place. Here are some photo's we took...

I have always really really wanted to see it. But never did as I couldn´t find it!! My last visit was cut brief due to the heat.

It looks totally fab and the views are stunning.

We didn't know where it was either. We got a taxi from Konak (just near the ferry terminal) and told the taxi driver we wanted to goto Asansör Elevator and he took us there. The taxi cost 4 lira.

It so close to Konak I could have easily have walked - God knows I walked back and forth to Alsancak from there - got blisters from hell to prove it!

I´m really annoyed with myself now!

It really looks so romantic and beautiful. Probably at night or in the sunset is also amazing to go there, *taking notes. )

This is a very special place, you can sit in the cafe at the top of the lift for a cold drink and the best views of Izmir.
