Default Turkish airlines

Did any body see the article in the Irish Times on the 29th November 2007
Heading Turkey's delights.
It was a commercial profile of the airline and featured cem Sahir Islam director of Turkish airlines.
In talking about flights from Dublin to istanbul he states "WE have a lot of passengers who transfer to connecting flights to Izmir and Antalya,Ideally they would prefer a direct flight and they should take the opportunity to make their views known on this.If they e mail us at ie-customer@thy.com with their requests for direct flights to these cities we will listen and consider adding those flights to our schedule "

Perhaps now is the time to start writing in block .

Thanks for that, will do that! That transfer from Istanbul to Izmir is awful. First you need to head to queue for your visa, then passport control, then trek all the way to the domestic terminal, then queue again for a boarding pass and then through security. Sometimes you only have an hour to get it all done, and often less than that if your delayed in Dublin. Your literally pouring with sweat just to make your flight to Izmir. I do know they have to wait for you or else unload your baggage off the plane! It's such a stressful dash sometimes.

Hi Jenny, they don't have to wait for you, have been there so many times. Your luggage will stay on the original plane and they will put you on the next one (free of charge, thankfully), so don't kill yourself trying to catch the flight.
Gerry, thanks for that, have emailed them put it has still not been delivered.

Dear Mr Gerry,

Thank you for email and suggestions.

At this present moment Turkish Airlines doesn't have plans for direct flights to Izmir, we do have as you may know good connections via - Istanbul, daily and hourly.

Turkish Airline is looking at the suggestions that we are receiving daily , whether when it will happens there is no prediction.

We hope to see you in our flight in the near future,
Thanks for choosing Turkish Airline,

Best Regards,
Linda Naranjo

Well anytime we have been late they've waited for us and the rest of the passengers arriving from Dublin, and that was for a half hour! I know there are other flights available free of charge if your very very late. However i don't like doing that as i usually have someone i know waiting to collect me and it's not really fair on them. Also the idea of waiting round for another flight wrecks my head, thats why it's so important to get a direct flight all year round to the resorts in Turkey.

Also your lucky if you come across someone in the domestic terminal in Istanbul that speaks English, i can speak some Turkish so i'm alright but for others thats not the case.

We have transited through Istanbul a number of times. Been horrendous the last few times. Shame it used to be so good as you only had to go through one door and transfer to the Izmir flight gave enough time to relax with our first efes. Visas were obtained in Izmir. Why they have had to change it I don't know it is awful now.

Thank Gerry,
I just email Turkish Airlines and also asked them to consider flying Dublin to Izmir. I also mentioned that they might consider reducing there prices as this would encourage many of us who have a holiday home there to go more often.
Thanks again
Molly

Hi Gerry,

Thanks again for informing us about the recent Irish Times article re: Turkish Airlines. Following this, I emailed them and have just received a reply, stating that they are now considering flying Dublin to Izmir. They asked me to fill in an excel doc. regarding possible visits to Izmir for 2008. Also mentioned by
Turkish Airlines was that they would welcome any possible users for this service to reply. Email address is ie-customer@thy.com

Molly
