~ Alacati - The windsurfers paradise ~

Alacati, a unique Mediterranean town on the Western coast of Turkey, which has been famous for its architecture, vineyards and windmills for over 150 years has now made its name in the world of windsurfing and kite surfing, with its crystal clear water, consistent and steady wind. It is possibly the best spot for windsurfing in Turkey and houses an international windsurfing school.

Alacati is incredible.. with its beauty, laid back attitude and lovely golden yellow beaches with shallow water.

Although a small town, Alacati has a surprisingly large number of good cafes and restaurants along its few main streets.

You can experience the Turkey of years gone by with its natural harbour, narrow cobblestone streets and on the hill of Alacati old historic windmills are dotted around, some of them having been converted into dazzling restaurants.

Saturday, the day of the local market is a good day to visit Alacati, when you can witness an array of locally produced goods on offer at incredibly low prices. Smell and taste the deliciously fresh fruit and vegetables and buy the latest genuine fake clothes. Or if you just like to take it easy, have a relaxing drink in the town square and watch the world go by......
