A Bill to bann smoking in enclosed places and also some open areas in Turkey is at present with parliament.
Turkey has a very large percent of smokers and I think it's going to be very hard to make a lot of people abide to this law. Tonight on the news, it said that the fine for anyone caught smoking in a restricted area ie. bar, restaurant, workplace etc will be fined 50ytl and a fine of 5,000ytl will be imposed on the owner of the said premises. |

I think they will try it, and it will fall apart, probably just before the tourist season kicks in
to a certain degree I do agree with a ban in some places, ie kitchens , public offices etc, even having a smoking section in restaurants is fine... but bars and clubs?? in holiday resorts?? suits me fine, I will be happy on my own balcony.. |

I can see it now. Police Motorcyclist wearing his baseball hat, pulling up lighting a cigarette then deciding whether to stop people who are smoking or riders without helmets. 1/2 hour later after smoking another cigarette. He puts his baseball hat back on gets on his motor bike and rides off. Job done for another week.
