A new route has been added by Goldtrail from Belfast to Izmir. The flights start on Sunday 11 May '08 @ £199.00, flying every Sunday until the 5 October '08.

Some of the dates are expensive but the prices usually drop 2-3 weeks before flying. Its another option from Belfast and hopefully to price will drop nearer the time.

Be very careful of new routes from Goldtrail. Last year it was Manchester to Izmir, and the price was good. But a week before we were due to go a refund appeared on the credit card used to book it. When we rang them they said the flight had been cancelled. But they hadn't let us know. A few weeks previously when I was checking prices, there was nothing coming up for this flight. I rang to check why and was told the flight was fully booked!!!!! So great if it fills up but too bad otherwise.
Later in the year when the flights were better subscribed, the departure time was brought forward by 1 hour -again with no one letting us know.

If it does come about, then that would be fantastic for my mum (she only lives 5 mins from the airport) as she usually flies from Dublin with Turkish Airlines. I'll have to give her a wee ring and tell her.

Still waiting on Aer Lingus to announce flights from Belfast to Izmir.
Travel agents are strongly hinting at an Easter launch.

Why not Dublin to Izmir-far more passengers from Dublin-just look at the THY flights to istanbul!

With the new motorway the drive up to Belfast airport from Dublin is less than 2hrs so it's not that far away.

Once we get more flights from Ireland, it doesn't matter- Belfast, Dublin, Cork or Shannon I'd be happy.
