Arrow What other sites are near Ephesus?

I really want to visit Ephesus during my vacation in Turkey; however, I would also like to see Istanbul and Izmir? Is Istanbul really far from Izmir, because it appears that way on a map? Furthermore, are there many other interesting historical sites surrounding Ephesus?

A good 11 or 12 hours by bus but if you have the budget get an internal flight from Izmir - it costs around 99YTL currently details here www.thy.com.tr

Only takes 55 minutes for the flight!
