Green face Selcuk Market

Hi Everyone,

Please help, I am leaving the UK on Friday to come to Kusadasi again and will probably miss the Friday Market for fruit/veg supplies. Does anyone know what time the market closes in Kusadasi? If not I'll have to go to Selcuk Market on Saturday. Is it easy to find? I don't know Selcuk very well, only passing through to/from the airport and Sirince. I left a post earlier this morning, but no replies, so I thought I'd try again....

Hi Trish,

Selcuk market is by far my favorite in the Kusadasi area.

If you drive to Selcuk you can't miss the market. It is held in a large area behind the Otogar. The dolmus will take you right next to it.

Thanks Mella,

I hope you're right that we can't miss it - we don't know Selcuk at all and we will be driving - so hope the parking is OK too. Do you know what time the market closes?

It starts early on Saturday morning and the markets usually close when it gets dark.

You know the roundabout and traffic lights as you enter Selcuk, instead of turning left to goto Izmir/Sirince - go straight and you'll see the Otogar to your left, and the market is just behind that.

I hope I haven't confused you!! You can always ask someone, market in Turkish is pazar.

I can't help you with parking sorry.

Thanks again Mella, you've been really helpful. I think I know where it is now.

As Mella said - go straight across at the lights and the market is right ahead of you. When you see the market, follow the road around to the right (it's the only way you'll be able to go anyway) and there is a car park just along the road. Car park is on left hand side of the road and is in the school playground. They'll put a ticket on your windscreen as you go in and you pay on the way out - 2 or 3 lira. I usually go to market in the mrning but I've also been there at around 5.00 pm and there's still plenty going on.

If you go another 150 meters and turn left, park where you like, free. We did it last saturday.

Skin flint, how do you intend to re-inflate the Turkish economy by parking free.
