Turkish and Dutch experts holding two days of talks on a four-nation ban of Turkey's budget airline Onur Air concluded Friday that the company's operations were secure, a senior Turkish official attending the talks said.
"The results of the talks that we had with the relevant people is that the safety of Onur Air operations has once again been established," said Topa Bilgettin Toker, president of Turkey's civil aviation. "As Turkey's civil aviation, we never had any doubts on the safety of our companies," Toker told the Anatolia news agency. Toker said the Dutch experts were preparing a report for the relevant authorities in the Netherlands. The Netherlands imposed a ban on Onur Air on May 12 because of "serious safety deficiencies observed with respect to aircraft, operational procedures and aircraft handling," Dutch aviation authorities said. The decision prompted France, Germany, and Switzerland to follow suit and declare their territories off limits to Onur Air, leaving nearly 40,000 passengers stranded, according to the company. *taken from turkish daily press |

A ban on flights by the Turkish low-cost airline Onur Air to France, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland has been completely lifted, the French civil aviation authority DGAC said Tuesday in a statement.
The Netherlands had imposed an initial ban on Onur Air on May 12, citing "serious safety deficiencies", prompting France, Germany, and Switzerland to follow suit and declare their territories off-limits to Onur Air as well. |
