Default Pamukkale this season

Is it worth visiting Pamukkale this season?

I've heard that it is not allowed to walk around those tubs like previous years?

Default Pamukkale: My impressions...

I found Pamukkale a bit disappointing... after a long and hot (but nice, it's true!) travel of about 200 km, maybe I was expecting to see something a bit more spectacular... Also, it's true that they were working throughout the area and some of the most beautiful pools were restricted... (I'm talking of mid-June 2005).

The Roman city of Hierapolis, well, interesting, but the truth is that after having seen Ephesus... everything seems... say... "average"...

The nicest part was the pool of thermal waters... It was a delight to put oneself in soaking in a kind of hot soda... (a little piece of advice: DON'T DRINK IT!!)... It became even better when an Ukrainian bus came and suddenly many beautiful Ukrainian girls were floating around me!!!

I totally agree with you. Well, ehh not about the Ukrainian girls ...But, I thought it would be WAY more amazing and breath taking. It looks so much better on postcards and in pictures, so I ended up spending most my time in the Cleopatra's pool which was definately the best part.

Anyway, this won't stop me visiting Pamukkale in approximately 2 weeks. I think it's definitely worth to go there, even if it's not quite as you imagined.

yeh true. It's well worth a visit if not purely just to say you've been there ask for goggles in the Cleopatra pool - it's so cool underwater because there is loads of ruins and stuff to look at.

Also go there first, before you check out the 'cotton castle' bit because the pool gets soooooooooo busy as the day goes on.

personally i love pamukkale although large quake a few years ago (causing black strip to appear ) and the wear and tear by many visitors has taken its toll
i would ask anyone visiting to nip down to the village itself the locals are wonderful and always pleased to see you there is a small hotel and a shop just at the town square
my second favorite place in Turkey although some of that may be due to a girl from pamukkale i knew a decade or so ago
