Default Introducing food in Turkey. Olive oil question

Anybody knows whether are there any limitations in introducing any kind or quantity of goods in Turkey, like food?

Particularly, I'm thinking in bringing olive oil from Spain. The only reason is economic: Olive oil is much more expensive in Kusadasi than in Spain (or at least I didn't find the cheap one)...

It's not just a caprice, olive oil is basic in Spanish gastronomy and we use it for every meal, so we consume lots of it, and well, if it's so expensive to buy it there (for staying there during several months, I mean, of course), in the end it would become a very big expense.

Anyway, why is olive oil so expensive?? I can't understand. I drove from Kusadasi to Bodrum last June, and I found enormous fields of olive trees!!

Anybody knows of an oil mill or so near Kusadasi where olive oil might be bought cheaper?

You should check supermarkets like Tansas or Migros.
i dont know how much in Spain but prices determining by supply and demand. If there are less supply (produce) and much demand, the prices go higher

Have you checked supermarkets?

Yes, in Migros (is Tansas better/cheaper? which one do you prefer?)... We went to several Migros, but mainly to the big Migros close to the by-pass highway because it was very easy to access with the car, parking... Prices are not bad, maybe it was the olive oil price what shocked us most... Also, suntan oil was very very expensive, but then I did understand the supply-demand thing... Fortunately I don't need suntan oil...

hahah, we have problems with all sort of oils then...
olive oil is one of the most beneficial food and we generally use it. It is expensive becuase olive is not producing widely i think.

Er... no... I just stayed for a week... I'll try to fix it in August... I know it's not usual to discover such details in just a week, but well, we were in an Apart-hotel so we had to buy food...

Do they sell olive oil in the Friday Market?

Actually it was in a little place in Sirince they were squashing olives in their back yard to make it! It was fabulous! But I have got it in the Friday market before, cant remember how much I paid for it though.

There truely is nothing quite like Turkish olives.
