Default Are Westerners Lives More Important Than Turkish Lives?

GUYS I WAS TALKING TO SHANNON LAST NIGHT AND IN VIEW OF THE RECENT EVENTS IN KUSADASI I MUST VENT MY ANGER AT ALL THE MEDIA THE ENGLISH(SKY NEWS) AND THE IRISH NEWS. WHY HAVE THEY NOT MADE A POINT OF TELLING PEOPLE THAT THERE WERE TURKISH PEOPLE KILLED ON THAT BUS AS WELL AS FOREIGNERS AND THAT THERE WERE INJURED TURKS AS WELL AS FOREIGNERS. ARE WESTERNERS LIVES MORE IMPORTANT THAN TURKISH ONES. I THINK NOT IAM SERIOUSLY THINKING OF SENDING AN E MAIL BOTH TO SKY NEWS AND OUR OWN NEWS CHANNEL ASKING THEM TO EXPLAIN THEIR TOTAL LACK OF EMPATHY TOWARDS THE TURKISH THAT WERE KILLED OR INJURED. SORRY FOR PRATTLING ON BUT THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. THERE HAVE BEEN THOUSANDS OD TURKISH MILITARY KILLED AS WELL AS CIVILIANS KILLED IN TURKEY BY SUICIDE BOMBERS AND THE PKK OVER THE YEARS AND YET AS WESTERNERS WE VERY RARELY HEAR ABOUT IT UNLESS A WESTERENER HAS BEEN CAUGHT UP IN IT. I WOULD DEARLY LOVE TO HEAR PEOPLES THOUGHTS ON THESE. THE TWO JOURNALISTS THAT CONTACTED THIS FORUM WERE ONLY DOING THEIR JOB I KNOW BUT WERE ASKING FOR INFORMATION ON EITHER ENGLISH OF IRISH FATALITIES!!!!!!

PLEASE PUT YOUR THOUGHTS HERE AS I AM GOING TO MAKE A POINT OF THIS AND SEND YOUR COMMENTS TO THE RELEVANT PEOPLE.

Sue, I couldnt agree with you more. I knew one of the Turkish girls killed in the blast (only 21) and there has been nothing about anyone only the Irish girl and the English girl. Dont get me wrong, its terrrible for all involved but a little bit of sympathy for all would be appreciated.

I am totally agree with you Sue.
But some British news media making more upset Turkish people.

For example; The Observer-Guardian
i dont know how they observe the news but i dont think they are well-intentioned. Look at this news;
http://observer.guardian.co.uk/inter...530372,00.html
Quote:
The bomb, which blew off the roof and sides of the vehicle carrying 14 holidaymakers travelling with UK tour company Thomas Cook, dramatically reinforced the sense of a concerted terrorist campaign against British targets worldwide, with increasing evidence pointing to al-Qaeda.
This is SHAME for the news agency! This is against to Thomas Cook! This is against to Turkey! This is against to Turkish, as well as British people!

and look at this:
http://observer.guardian.co.uk/inter...530372,00.html
Quote:
A senior Kurdish rebel commander, Zubeyir Aydar, condemned the attack in a statement to the German-based Mesopotamia News Agency, which often carries rebel statements.
He is a god-damned terrorist! How can you call this bastard as "rebel commander" !!!???????

And our Prime Minister, Mr. Erdogan, condemned and cursed the BBC and Reuter;
http://forum.kusadasi.biz/thread2371.html
Quote:
“I condemn and curse the BBC and Reuters agencies for describing the PKK as militants,” he said. “I call on the world media to be objective. If this attitude continues terror strikes in Turkey would hit them and their children,” he said.
Frankly, we dont need the sympathy of Brisith news resources but they should not make us upset...

Fortunately; all British people love us and love our country. please read this:
Quote:
As our Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said...;

"Our thoughts and prayers are with all the victims and their families," he said.
"As always we stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Turkey, in sympathy and in our refusal to allow terrorists to destroy our values and our liberty."
I personally thank much to British Government.

Sue,

i was thinking exactly the same yesterday, it has been all over the news(tv) & newspapers, & even this morning all over the breakfast programmes.

all talking about the English woman who died, as an after thought they mention the Irish girl, & then that 4 other people were killed.

I suppose the news agencys just report what is relevant to their country, but this isnt right.

In Holland they mentioned the Turkish people..infact I think in one newspaper they mentioned them before the British & Irish. But maybe that's because there is a huge amount of Turkish people living over here. Either way - I can't understand why the English/Irish media have not made a point of telling people that Turkish also lost their lives in this terrible ordeal. What is wrong with this world..Why are countries only interested in their own, and if their own people get hurt. We are all human being's, this is our world, if others get hurt or killed or if other countries get bombed we should bloody well care and not just because ''one of our own'' got injured, but because we have compassion and sympathy for others. we should all stand together in this - not just think about our own people.

Oh & really never believe what you read in British media because they are wankers and twist things round to suit them.

Default People Amaze Me

I Cant Understand The Mentality Of Some Of The Media Terrorism Is A Worldwide Scourge And Every Life That Is Taken Is Equally Important. The Media Have A Lot To Answer For If There Were Not English That Were In Iraq I Gaurentee You It Would Not Be Getting So Much Media Coverage. Where Is Afghanistan Now You Hardly Hear About It Now. Its A Disgrace As I Also Have Turkish Friends That Were Injured And It Sickens Me That People Would Think That They Werent Worth Reporting On

I completely agree with you there Mella, the British Media are evil..,seriously!

A Sue said, we were talking last night and i was wanting to mention it to her but i didnt want to see disrespectful to the death of Tara or Helen but i just had to say it cos i was so disgusted. On RTE news last night, obviously Tara was the big story, and then they talked about Kusadasi for a while and then about the English hurt or Killed. It was the same with BBC and as Sue said, Sky news too...and those poor Turkish boys who died didnt even get a look in did they! Not only were their names not mentioned, if you had been watching yesterday you wouldnt have even known that they were in the bus!!!!

Ive had this on my mind for a long time, even before this tragedy! I was thinking it in April when the Turkish policeman was killed in Kusadasi by the bomb in the cassette player which PKK claimed responsibility for! It didnt even make the daily papers over here let alone the news, i thin i found a tiny snippet at the end of the week in the paper about it! Where was the British Government then eh?!!!

Umit you seem to have this "Roses, apples and sunshine" view of the British Government! Lets not forget what they did in Iraq with the USA! Where were they the last time the bomb went off? Where were they for the last 10 years when over 30,000 Turkish people died in terrorist attacks. They didnt give a shit! And the only reason they do now is No. 1, because its to do with British people, and No. 2 becasue if Turkey joins the EU they need ye as a ally because ye will soon be the most powerful country! I seriously doubt its because the British Government just love Turkey and its people, you are really fooling yourself if you think that!

Foreign Secretary Jack Straw is going yes, so what! So is the Irish Foreign Minister, hes going this week to meet with the Turkish Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs in Turkey! An why are they going? They are going becasue of the Irish and English Citizens, they dont give a shit about the Turkish!

Im so sickened by it and so upset by it! I have not been an adult for very long but one thing has become very clear to me! The West, treats the East like shit! People have been saying it for years but these last few months i really feel it! Eastern lives are less important that western lives, in fact eastern lives dont even matter. God bless the fucking free world eh!!!!

Default Media Idiots

Yes I Agree With Ya Shannon But I Have To Say That Most People Would Feel This Way. The Media Have A Lot To Answer For In The Way They Report Crime. A Lot Of Rascist Reprisals Are Done Because Of What Is Or Isnt Reported On Especially Sky News. All Manner Of The Media Are To Blame As Are The Newspapers The Bloody Idiots Got Tara's Name Wrong In All The British Papers And Didnt Even Mention The Turkish That Were Killed . I Am Sickened By This As Well Free Speech My Arse. Most Of The Tv Stations Report With Biased Reports . Maybe Someone Like Those Journalists Will Get Back On And See This Thread

Gosh.. you're going to make a deadly lawyer, Shan. My god.

Yeah, everybody take off your rose tinted glasses when looking at the British government. They are sneaky bastards..I have zilch respect for them.

And as for the media..Did you know the 200000 people that died in iraq received little or no media attention compared to the london attacks or 911.. It definately seems as thought the western lives are superior to others when one looks at the media coverage of events. They are vile. & The west should get past their racist attitude to other people and value life equally.

Our physical structure is the same, and our mind, and our emotional nature are also the same. Sorry this is slightly off the current discussion, but what really annoys me is the Irish Foreign Office. They issued a warning for Irish people travelling to Turkey to be extra vigilent and are reviewing their advice to people travelling there. To the best of my knowledge (and I've checked their website) there was no such advice to Irish people travelling to London after the tube bombings!! This to me smacks of extreme double standards. We can't upset the English government but it's ok to upset the Turkish government. Surely people with common sense are vigilent all over the world in the present terrorist climate. And I certainly don't think we in Ireland should worry about travelling anywhere, after all we have our own problems in our own backyard.
