Limerick woman scoops €113m jackpot

30 July 2005 20:58
A 45-year-old Limerick woman has won Europe's largest ever lottery jackpot.

Dolores McNamara from Ballysimon stands to collect €113 million after winning the Euromillions rollover jackpot prize.

Ms McNamara was in the Track Bar in Limerick last night when she checked her Euromillions lottery ticket to find that she had all five numbers drawn as well as the two Lucky Star numbers needed to take the jackpot.

The jackpot had not been won since May and had been rolled over nine times.

The National Lottery operates Euromillions in Ireland. Its offices are closed for the Bank Holiday weekend so it will be Tuesday morning before Ms McNamara can claim her winnings.

The numbers drawn were 3, 19, 26, 49, and 50. The Lucky Stars were 4 and 5.

Lotto's £77m Winner In Hiding

A woman from Limerick is in hiding after winning a record-breaking £77m in the European lottery.Dolores Macnamara, 50, is waiting to present her lucky ticket to lottery bosses after scooping the rollover jackpot in Friday's EuroMillions draw. She and her family were sitting at a table in the Track Bar, near their Limerick home, when she saw the winning numbers flash up on the screen.

Mary Brosnan, owner of the Garryowen Shop where Mrs McNamara bought her two euro ticket, said local people could not stop talking about the enormous win.

The shopkeeper said droves of people had been coming in to buy lottery tickets and scratchcards in the hope the luck might rub off.

There was no sign of anyone at the McNamara's £100,000 house.

Mrs McNamara and her husband Adrian, a bricklayer, have three daughters - Dawn, 28, Kim, 22, and Kevan 20, - and three sons - Gary, 26, Dean, 15 and 13-year-old Lee.

Neighbours were saying the family may have travelled to their holiday home in the Turkish holiday resort of Kusadasi.

However, others said they might be staying with relatives.

if i won that sort of money i would take a career break and go and see the world! prob wouldn go back to my profession, but would need to do some sort of work, need to be doing something! but honestly if you won that amount you would have to set up some charities with it! id prob spend a year in africa! it is too much money for one person, or even a family!
just think of the interest they will get per week of the bank? that would be enough alone to support anybody in a great life style! would be over a million a year in interest! ridiculous
