I have been offered a job in Kusadasi and want to move out in May sometime.
I am looking for somewhere to live. A flat on my own could be expensive especially when I will be earning Turkish Lira. I am looking just to rent a room, like a house share or similar. I am 34 years old, very tidy, and will be working as an English teacher. If anyone can help or point me in the right direction I would be most greatful. Thanks John |

Congratulations. You've done very well to be offered a job here teaching English when you're still in UK. Just check the terms and conditions before you move out here. Will the guaranteed salary be enough to live on? Will they pay your SSK? Is the school licensed? From your earlier posts I seem to remember that you have Turkish nationality and so don't need a work permit. You may find that the school will pay for a hotel for you for your first week or so and help you to find suitable acccommodation. Good luck Alan |

Hi before you move here do you not think you should just consider the pros and cons, I see from your profile you just have High School teaching did you not go to uni to become a qualified English Teacher, I know my daughter who now is 30 had been in Uni for over 4 years and only graduated in 2008 and even now she still has to attend Uni once a month. Please be sure you have all the right papers Residence Permit, Work Permit. But the last most important thing make sure you have everything in writing especley how much they are going to pay you a MONTH. Good luck

Yes you do need a degree to teach English as a foreign language as well as the TEFL or CELTA qualification, in Turkey.
