last night was turkish lesson night
errrrrrr very very veyr hard
i am having grate problems with saying stuff that is it in the past
e.g i went to kusadasi
we hent to disco
they went you a walke
we all watched t.v

can anyone give adv please

you can usually spot the past tense by an ending which include -DI / du / dü

for example,
i am rich .. zenginim
i was rich .. zengindim
you were rich .. zengindin
he/she/it .... zengindi
we were .. zengindik
you were (polite) ... zengendiniz
they were .. zengendiler

if the word has an o or u the i needs to be changed to a u
ie ..
tired .. yorgun
i was tired ... yorgudum

if the word has a ö or a ü the i needs to be changed to a ü

ie ...
sad ... üzgün
i was sad .. üzgündüm

if the word you are using ends in a vowel, you have to add Y as well

I was well / good ... Iyiydim

Sames rules apply with the o's & u's


if you want to make it a negative by using Degil

i was'nt happy ... Mutlu degildim

Sharon,what means are you using to learn Turkish?Are you learning from someone,or using books ,tapes ect.I was just talking this morn about wanting to learn and just looking for best way to do it.

i am very luck
there is a big turkish community in sheffield where i live
i go to the local collage and have propper lessons
it cost be £131 for the corse and i am in my 2nd year

I am lucky, i can learn for free because i am a student at this language center in my city centre! woo ! My teacher lives near kus 2 ! hehe
