Hi All, We have been given a quote for building work by our emlak for 3500euros approx £2500 for the following. New kitchen with breakfast bar, floors and walls tiled and replacement pvc window. 2 bathrooms (1 with shower) walls and floors tiled and replace window, also replace 1 other small window. We think this is a good price in comparisom with the prices here But would love some feed back from anyone that knows more than us. Thank you Mavis

Sounds blooming good to me, but only hand the money over when the works completed.

Thats the problem Brian they all want half the money to start the work and then (it seems) the rest when they have finished regardless of the fact that maybe you can,t get there to see it. I can understand them wanting a certain amount because some people might change their minds and they stand a loss, But it is all a case of trust when you are not there, and that should be on both sides, so its really nervewracking knowing what to do. Thanks very much. Mavis.

Hi Mavis
This seems to be the norm here in Turkey. İ think its because the people doing the work dont have the ready cash to buy the materials needed (in your case 2 bathroom suites etc). Your agent has probably arranged for a local workman to do the jobs for you. What İ find odd here is that workmen dont seem to have their own tools! They just seem to arrive and then you have to provide whatever it is they need; should it be a drill, hammer whatever! Alison |

Hi Marlyn, We,ve only known the emlak since we bought from them in septembe this year, But they are a very big company and have been around a long time. We have.nt had any work done previously, we have also had a second quote from another company, which costs more, but i think the second company would keep in contact with us more. One thing for sure though we won,t pay the final balance until we see the work actually finished and if they are a reputable company, they should understand that. Bye for now. Mavis

so you can only imagine what the house would end up looking like. Oh my god you have to laugh sometimess. Mavis. |

If you are not going to be over there you can ask them to take photos before you send the final money. This is what we did when we were buying a house..

hi
I have heard many story's about emlaks sorting houses out for customers and I decided against it. I am using a company who manages property to oversea my construction work and it is their regular buidlers who are doing the work. I managed to see previous work that they have done and I was impressed. The company who have organised it and have taken the stress out of it for me are www.mypomtr.com and are called peace of mind property management. Have a word with them and they will help and they can be trusted. Rubab and Danny run the company and Ruabab is Turkish and Danny is American and there are no language barriers. Also once you leave they can look after the property (which they are doing for me). My Villa is being completely refurbished at the moment by them and I have no worries that the job will be excellent. Have a word with them. They will not rip you off and will not pressure you for money.......unlike many emlaks. Wesley www.villaholidayturkey.com |

Hello All, I finally chose a building company about 4-5 weeks ago, and so far i,m very happy with the contact they keep with us and Yes, Nikki, they send pic,s of the progress of the work done up to now.
So i,m keeping my fingers crossed that the end result, when i see it in May will be OK. Ive got no doubt, that in the future I will come across people who say i could of got things done for a better price, But I needed to get thing,s going and once we live there i,ll learn alot more i,m sure. Just have to sell up here now and i,ll be on my way. Can,t come sooner enough. Mavi ![]() |
