Hello all, I have just joined and am a regular visitor to Kusadasi. I am from Ireland and my next trip will be in April I hope. We are in the process of buying a villa and a bit anxious to see it through. We have been told it could be a few months before the tapu is through?? Anyone know the story?

Welcome to Kusadasi.biz.

basically, over the past year the law on foreigners buying porperty in Turkey has been frozen, so no Tapu's have been issued.

the law was approved in parliament last week, so only has a few more stages to go before the Tapus can be issued once again. there will be a huge back log, so it maybe be more than a few months before your tapu is issued (i know of people who have been waiting 11 mths)

Thanks for that. Was thinking of booking 2 weeks for June thinking it would be all sorted but will hang on a bit now. Wish the estate agents could have put it as simply for me!!

All the best with looking for a house. I did the same last June and if you need any advice with things I would be happy to help. One tip, take your deposit (cash with you) otherwise it will cost you a fortune trying to source the money using a money transfer company! The usually want the deposit very quickly and they will not wait for you to return home and send the money.

Things have worked out well, for foreigner purchasing property in Kusadasi and a few other area have been declared non military infringement zones, with the new law, so should not be a problem any more for long waiting periods on tapu. I hope all goes well on your purchase.

Hi Clonaslee. You must be from around Wordworth's place! I remember being there when I was a kid.
I'm from Wexford but have lived in Dublin for years. We have a villa just outside Kusadasi for the last four years.We have been going to Turkey since 1986. I think getting the Tapu through has speeded up a bit now.
