Hi and welcome.

My view is when I first saw the shutters, I thought they looked ugly and like you were closing a shop for the night. I went for wrought iron bars instead, as it is advisable to have soon security.

In hindsight, shutters can be tastefully done and I think when I come to change them in the future, I will add shutters.

It is an expense, but it is also a benefit. I personally would recommend having shutters or at least some kind of security measure.

No probs. Yes it can be quite expensive.

We went for iron and got a good deal. We paid about £2000 for 11 windows, 3 doors, and railing for 3 flights of stairs, balcony, terrace and roof terrace.

I totally agree with Anthony. It does seem excessive. I confirmed this with my wife.

Hi Oldlang,

I paid 1,000 Euro two years ago for 1 single door, 3 double doors, 3 bedroom windows, 1 attic window small, 1 bathroom window small, 1 kitchen window small, 1 downstairs bathroom window small, 1 floor to ceiling double bay window, railings for three flights of stairs and decorative rail between salon and kitchen. My advice would be to shop around locally yourself and I am sure you will get a better deal.

Those prices seem a lot better, like you said you must shop around, nice to get an idea from the forum though.

Please have security shutters fitted. The black bars are quite inexpensive and can enhance the look of a property. We had a quote for our small villa last year which came to about £1000. We have the other type of shutter which is a nuisance, and takes a lot of messing around. Also they are not secure enough. We had a break in. The shutter was ripped from the wall and the robbers entered via upstairs window. We were lucky nothing of major value was taken and we are insured but the feeling when you have to live with the aftermath will definatley ruin your holiday and comprimise your feeling of safety.

Post Decorative security bars

Hi from Sunny Doncaster, last March I paid £350 for decorative bars on 5 windows, a 4 metre patio window this all opens individually or all together and a hand rail for the stairs and new railings for three balconies. Fitted 2 days after they measured up.

Great little price in Davutlar, obviously a Turkish friend negotiated the price as a week earlier I had visited the same workshop and been quoted £400 for just the Patio Window.
