This year we sometimes ventured outside the tourist areas to be more like the Turkish People. Went to the Bul Bul restaurant near the cemetry. The palce was packed bu we were the only non Turkish people in the place. A meal for 4 people including drinks (non alacololic as it is really a Lokanta) cost 43ytl. There was more than enough to eat and the service was twice as fast as a McDonalds. Is this the cheapest restaurant in Kusadasi? Any advances on this excluding the take our Doner places at the road side.

Traditional turkish. mainly based on the kebabs so its generally high in salt. . They have a lunch time menu and and evening menu. There is plenty of it and it is of reasonable quality. They also put loads of spices and peppers on the table for you to flavour your food to taste. It is more of a genuine Turkish experience than the restaurants in the centre.

Hi Dan,
There are quite a few cheap authentic restaurants in Kusadasi. They have a limited menu but the food is always far better there and also we experience less hassle. Some are hidden in alley ways - off the beaten track. But you don´t have to look long really. Just follow the Turks. We ate for nothing at this Turkish fast food restaurant that served up delicious tripe soup and a great salad. Cost peanuts. It is located right across the OzSut dessert bar on the street leading down to the sea promenade. To miss out on the two Avlu´s and Bul Bul would be a crime. Great food and plenty of it. In Avlu you go up and pick out what you wan´t. The mashed potato´s and stuffed peppers are wonderful. Bul Bul´s soups are delicious as are their pide. But the rice pudding´s really knocked my socks off. When they suggest a salad, just decline because with all their main courses a salad automatically comes with it. Bul Bul is located not far from the huge Migros near the dolmus station, so it´s that end of town. Their is an Avlu in the center of town in the Kaleici district with it´s white washed walls. Also if you are on Ladies Beach try going to the far end. Their is a restaurant where you can get half a chicken for €3 or something ridiculous. The atmosphere and service are nothing to scream about. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hi All
I was out in May on my own and walk up to the Bul Bul after reading the good reports on the Forum, but after going in and standing around for a few minutes, nobody made any attempt to come up to me, so I just left as I felt silly just standing there, are you supposed to just sit at any table or do you have to go to the counter to be served?, it was not very busy and there seemed to be a lot of waiters just sitting around. |

Brian, we always just walked in & sat down where we wanted to, the waiters then bring you a menu over.
