If you don´t fancy Bar street in the first place I suggest you dump that and try one of the many bars in Kaleici instead or even better one of the beach clubs or those barbecue on the beach evenings.

Voycey, as Heph said, you really must visit Izmir-Alsancak. Great nightlife, nice rock cafes....also great for shopping.
