As you may know, Turkey is celebrating religious holiday (Seker Bayrami - Candy Feast ). People are visiting friends, everybody smiling and happy with the holiday. Until today...
An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale hit northwestern Turkey on Tuesday and was felt in Istanbul, just days after another quake of the same size in the area, Turkey's earthquake monitoring center said. The quake's epicenter was in the Sea of Marmara, which lies alongside Istanbul, and the shocks were briefly felt in Turkey's largest city of 12 million residents. Earthquakes are frequent in Turkey, which lies on active fault lines. Two devastating earthquakes hit northwestern Turkey in 1999, killing some 18,000 people (some resources say more than 30.000). Geologists have been warning that Istanbul, a city with a population estimated of more than 11 million people, would be woefully unprepared for a large earthquake, an event which many feel is probable in the near future. Now people are asking that these ones are signs of upcoming big one with anxious moods... Watch Istanbul & Marmara video:
