Default Blair to visit Turkey
From todays Turkish daily news

British Prime Minister Tony Blair, a staunch backer of Turkey's bid to join the European Union, will visit Turkey on Friday to discuss the candidate country's membership prospects after wrapping up a key summit of EU leaders in Brussels, news reports said.

Blair will arrive in Ankara on Friday afternoon and have talks with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, said the reports.

The British prime minister is expected to renew his country's support for Turkey's EU membership during talks with Turkish officials and discuss steps to ease the economic sanctions imposed on the Turkish Cypriots.

The landmark visit will come after the summit of EU leaders. No surprise decision is expected to emerge from the summit and the member states are widely expected to endorse a controversial decision made earlier this week by the bloc's foreign ministers.

In Ankara, Blair is expected to highlight the positive aspects of the EU decision and give the message that it does not mean a suspension in Ankara's negotiating process but instead means Turkish-EU ties will remain on track.
