Yesterday we had to go to Gocek near Fethiye on business. A 3hr drive but was I glad I went!! This place is absolutely gorgeous. It was the first time I'd been in main Fethiye area but Im already planning on going back.
Gocek is a yachtsmans paradise. Yachts, some the size of hotels, owned by the rich and famous of both Turkey and the world are moored in its marina. The Bay of Gocek has 12 islands, which means the sea there is calm the majority of the times. Gocek itself has 1 main street, which runs along the sea front. There are a few low-key bars, restaurants and shops, but it struck me how many Yacht Brokers there were in this one street. The house prices are unbelievably expensive compared to the Kusadasi area. Semi-detached dublex's from 150K Sterling upwards. We saw new semi-detached dublex's being built at the marina (apparently you will be able to park your little dinghy outside your house while you leave your yacht docked out at sea or at the marina). Price? 1million euro. I'll post some photos later on today. Alison |

Ohh it sounds beautiful Ally,
My parents usually holiday in that part of Turkey & they love it! Everything is so much more expensive than in Kusadasi tho ... from the food & drinks to the markets, I usually pay half the price in Kusadasi to what they pay in the Fethiye area |

Sounds really lovely Ally. The whole Fethiye area looks absolutely beautiful... I'd love to go there one day.
My dad went a few years ago and loved it. It sounded like such fun, they went white water rafting and paragliding off the top of mountains.. Just been having a look at the Göcek Yacht Marina website...very nice!! Thanks for the post and looking forward to seeing your photo's. ![]() |

Hi Claire
The place we had coffee yesterday in Gocek seemed to be the same price as here. There were two large restaurants on the seafront who seemed a bit cheaper than Kusadasi. I wasnt the camera person yesterday so when I uploaded the photos today I noticed there werent any of the marina but here are a few anyway. |

Yesterday on the way down, I was the driver with my hubby the navigator and he somehow thought that Gocek was near Marmaris
. Found out we'd taken the wrong turning but we stopped for a bite to eat just before we came into Marmaris in a place called Cetibel. The restaurant is called Caglayan Pinarbasi and I recommend anyone who's going to Marmaris to call in for a bite to eat. Its a beautiful setting with water coming down from the mountain into a fish pond.I made it to Marmaris in 2hrs 15 minus from Kusadasi which wasnt bad going ![]() Gocek was an hour further south. I stayed in fethiye and hisaronu the first time i came to turkey about twenty years ago, and fell in love with the place. when we decided to buy in turkey we looked around the area and yes there is a huge price difference. then looked around the kusadasi area and felt it certainly had as much to offer and was far better value.
now think we made the right choice, feel that kus has the best of everything. steve. |

Ally i agree with you for the past 10 years i have always gone to fethiye area
especially Calis Beach that is my favourite area,i have been to Gocek many times. It was quite funny the 1st time we went it was early on a Sunday morning we arrived and thought this is fabulous with the lovely boats i was told that prince charles went there some years ago, when we wanted to go back to fethiye and calis beach there wasnt a dolmus. The one we went on was the only one and the last one. We hitched a lift back we will always remember Gocek. Calislyn ![]() |
